Bathroom Fitter - Bathroom Refurbishment - Bathroom to Shower Room Conversions
Welcome to my website. Please do browse the various web pages as there is much information regarding bathroom refurbishments and shower conversions that may be of some interest to you. The 'MORE...' button above will reveal further of my website pages.
About Me
I am a Nuneaton based plumber working only my local area, which includes, Nuneaton, Bedworth, Atherstone and Hinckley. And while I'm also quite happy to undertake smaller jobs and general plumbing work, my specialist area of expertise is Bathroom Refitting, Full Bathroom Refurbishments and Bathroom to Shower Room Conversions, including Shower Conversions for the less able.
By working just my local area I can offer a first class, fast, friendly and efficient service at very competitive rates with NO call-out fees, and also provide FREE, no-obligation, written quotations.
I have been self-employed for over 20 years, during which time I have steadily built up a reputation for being trustworthy, reliable and extremely good at what I do - something I am very proud of.
Written Quotations
My written quotations are quite comprehensive and fully detailed in order that both myself and my potential client know exactly what to expect: what work is involved, what items are included, and approximately how long the work will take.
Should I have the pleasure of putting together a written quotation for you, then once you receive the quotation, I simply leave the matter completely in your hands and wait to hear from you... or not, as the case may be. That is to say, although I will always be available to advise or provide you with further information, you will never be pestered or rushed into a making a decision; I do not employ hard-selling tactics or impose action deadlines, and you will never be plagued by annoying phone calls from me.
Furthermore, for your total peace of mind, unless you specifically require extra work doing or require additional items that have not been quoted for, you will never pay more than the price stated in my written quotation. There are absolutely NO HIDDEN COSTS or ADDITIONAL CHARGES! So, for example, should the work take a day or so longer than expected or should there be an unexpected additional cost due to some unforeseen problem, then I would absorb this cost - no additional fees will be added on to my original quotation.
Your Budget
For a standard size (6ft x 6ft) bathroom, a full bathroom refurbishment or bathroom to shower room conversion, including all new fixtures and part or complete wall tiling will typically cost between £2500 and £4000. Of course every bathroom is different, so the cost of any individual bathroom refurbishment or shower conversion will be very dependent on the cost of particular fixtures, the choice of tiles, the size of the room and of course the total amount of work involved. However, the above figures are generally a good cost guide for a fairly standard household bathroom.
One of the things that being a small one-man business allows me to do extremely well, is cater for individual needs and all budgets. By spending a little time and effort in contacting my various suppliers and some careful sourcing and selection of baths, showers, wash basins, toilets, tiles, etc., I find that I am usually able to work to most people's budgets, providing them with everything they require and at a cost they can comfortably afford.
Obviously a smaller budget may possibly mean making some compromises - but not necessarily. Even if your budget does not extend to high-end designer items, you may well be pleasantly surprised by just what you can get for your money even on a relatively tight budget - and without cutting corners.
By way of an example, a brand new designer toilet and wash basin may cost upwards of £1200, but conversely a brand new £400 equivalent will do the job perfectly well and in your particular refurbishment may look every bit as good as the high priced designer items. And, one thing I can tell you from experience, is that many high-end designer fixtures often prioritise form over function, employing hard to acquire non-standard parts that can be far more prone to problems than readily available, good value tried and trusted designs. With some thought and a little extra effort on my part, there are always ways of keeping costs from spiralling out of control and staying within budgets.
All this is just to say that I can - and often do - work to strict budgets and I can invariably provide my clients with a bathroom or shower room that exceeds their expectations. Furthermore, I can always provide multiple free quotations in writing that detail the various options available and their respective costs.
Personal Service
The first and foremost priority of many larger companies is to maximise profits at any cost. These big companies often sub-contract work out to tradesmen that work to strict deadlines and strict budgets - tradesmen who may then cut corners and cost cut to meet those strict deadlines and strict budgets. As a small one-man operation and without the great overheads of larger companies, I am in the very favourable position of being able to offer a much more personal service without any strict time constraints, and more importantly without corner-cutting or cost-cutting.
Furthermore, being a small one-man business and not being governed by any kind of head office hierarchy affords me the opportunity to offer some rather unique services.
Sometimes I find that my potential clients, particularly the elderly or infirm, are without transport or are predominantly house-bound, which does not allow them to easily visit large stores or browse showrooms to get an idea of what they want, what they require, or indeed what their options are. In such cases I will happily bring catalogues and go through the various options with them in the comfort of their own home. And should my potential clients wish to see the actual items, such as, the shower unit, the taps, a folding shower seat, grab rails and/or any other items that can easily be transported, then I will happily bring those items along, too.
Tile Service
Without doubt, one of the most important aspects of any bathroom refurbishment or shower conversion are the tiles, as they can set the tone for the whole refurbishment - particularly so if the whole bathroom/shower room is to be tiled. But individual tastes differ wildly from person to person and there is indeed a lot of choice nowadays. With this in mind, and as part of my personal service, should you not be in a position to travel to tile warehouses and tile outlets in order to view and acquire tiles yourself, then I am always prepared to pick up various sample tiles that suit your budget in order that you can view them in the comfort of your own home. I would then purchase and collect your chosen tiles for you, so you would not have to concern yourself with acquiring and transporting heavy tiles at all.
Delivery of Items
Once we have decided on the work you require doing and you have accepted a quotation, then we can set a mutually agreeable date to start the work. I will then order everything I need and arrange delivery to coincide with my first or second day at your home and at a time when I'm on site. I will in fact handle everything so at no time will you, my client, need to involve or concern yourself in anyway.
Waste Disposal
When undertaking a full bathroom refurbishment or full shower conversion, as part of my service I will remove and dispose of your old bath, wash basin, toilet, tile rubble, etc, so none of this need concern you either. In fact I will remove and legally dispose of all non-recyclable items at a proper disposal site. This is a service that I will include in the quotation for all my full bathroom refurbishments and full bathroom to shower room conversions.
My Work Ethic
I fully appreciate that I am effectively a stranger and a guest in your home, and as such I always conduct myself in the appropriate manner. While I am very professional in my work, at the same time I am easy going and quite approachable - the last thing I would want is for anyone to feel uncomfortable in their own home, or indeed myself to feel like an unwanted intruder.
One of the things that most frustrates and annoys any client, is to be waiting in all day for a tradesman that never bothers to turn up. Of course it is always possible for things to go a little awry in large companies: miscommunication, lack of communication, someone off sick or sheer bad management, but small businesses really have no excuse. And indeed, one of my key attributes is that I always turn up when it is arranged for me to turn up - I have never yet let a client down, and fully intend to maintain this record!
By nature I am not a slacker; I do not smoke, and unlike some, I'm not inclined to have a tea break every half an hour. I work diligently throughout the day and will normally only take a 15 minute break around lunchtime.
Finally, I should just add that I always work alone and all my work is undertaken professionally and finished to a very high standard. I pride myself on my workmanship and my attention to detail, and along with the professional way in which I conduct myself, I believe it is these very qualities that often sets me apart from many of my fellow tradesmen. Furthermore, I will never impose on you in any way; whilst I will happily advise you and make suggestions, at the end of the day it is your bathroom, so you will always have the final say.
NO Deposit - NO Upfront Payments - NO Materials Fees!
With the many horror stories we read about or regularly see on TV, whereby unscrupulous tradesmen - the 'cowboys' - resort to all manner of underhanded tricks to fleece their clients, often leaving work unfinished or completely bodged and their client well and truly out-of-pocket and with nothing to show for it, you have a right to be concerned and you really do need to be cautious. Knowing who you can and can't trust will always be, and should always be, a major concern - after all, you will, in most cases, be letting a complete stranger into your home.
To allay your fears, and indeed for your complete peace of mind (and again, unlike many of my fellow tradesmen), I never ask for any advanced payments - I never ask for or require a deposit or upfront materials fees of any kind. You trust me to come into your home and do the work, I trust you to pay for the work once it has been completed as agreed and to your satisfaction.
Contact Me
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you think I may be of assistance. I'm always happy to call by and discuss your personal requirements, and indeed provide you with any help and advice that you may be in need of, and/or provide you with no-obligation, fully detailed quotations. This is all part of my personal service and does not cost you anything, so please do not avoid contacting me simply because you think that you will be inconveniencing me - you won't be!
Kind regards, Gary
